As we head into fall, the
colors are beginning to show and the nights are
getting cooler. The town has quieted down from
the hustle and bustle of vacation weeks, but
there are still many good restaurants and shops
to choose from. This month the Resort became
affiliated with Festiva Resorts, as they
purchased the unsold weeks from the developer.
They will be offering new options and vacation
opportunities to the Owners. If you have any
questions, their Owner Services Department can
be reached at 866-933-7848. Current Owners of
deeded weeks can continue making their
reservations as they always have, and all
existing reservations will be honored. And
speaking of reservations, if you haven’t already
made your flex week reservations for 2009,
please try to make them as soon as possible to
secure your desired week. This year’s annual
HOA meeting, normally scheduled for the second
Saturday in December, has been moved up to
November 22. Details of time and location will
be posted on the Members’s Only pages shortly,
but it is expected to be in the same location on
the SMCC campus in South Portland.

It has been a very busy
summer season. We could have used a little more
sunshine and a little less rain the last couple
of months, but our active Resort owners and
Interval guests still found many ways to
entertain themselves. We partnered with
Saddleback Ski Resort for some mid-week
adventures led by Mark Robie, a registered Maine
Guide and noted camp chef. He has led hikes up
Saddleback Mountain, toured Saddleback Lake by
canoe at sunset, and even cooked gourmet dinners
in the wilderness. All excursions have received
rave reviews. The 2-hr pontoon boat tours on
Rangeley Lake have also been quite popular again
this year. Area Guide Matt Tinker has taken
numerous groups on moose-spotting trips and
canoe fishing on area lakes. Other families
hiked Bald Mountain, Cascade Brook, or Angel
Falls. There have been some great community
activities this year, including arts and crafts
fairs, cookouts, musical shows, including the
Diva concert that had local singing talent
covering tunes by famous singers such as Patsy
Cline and Johnny Cash. Since July the Resort has
featured regular weekly socials, including a
Make-Your-Own-Sunday ice cream social, a Monday
morning coffee social, and a wine and cheese
social.

The key to getting the most
out of your vacation ownership is to plan
ahead. Make your reservations as far in advance
as possible. If you are a 3-bedroom Fixed week
owner, you are guaranteed your deeded week, but
must call to select a cabin. If you are a Flex
Week owner you must call the resort to select
your cabin and week. Flex week owners may make
a reservation for any flex week in their deeded
season color (red, yellow, or green) up to one
year in advance, and in a different color-coded
flex week up to 59 days in advance. All
reservations are subject to availability, and
are taken on a first-requested, first-reserved
basis. Many owners are reserving their weeks a
year in advance.
